THIS page is for  our yearly Friendly Chess Tournament, sponsored by Harcourts Cape Gate, taking place on the 15th of September 2018.

RAB - Rapid and Blitz
Rapid 20:20
Blitz 3min + 2 sec incr.

Please note: We can only take 120 entrants for the Rapid and only 32 for the Blitz tournament.
Blitz Tournament are open to any leaner still in school.
Any player (from under 11 to under 18) can play against each other in a knock out tournament.
Draw will be done as the entries come in.
You will find out on the day, where and who you will be playing against.

The tournament flyer below mentions only 3 sections - however, there will be place for under 18's also, born in 2000 + 2001 + 2002 also. All u.15 to u.18 players in high school will play together as one. The under 15's will get recognition when medals winners are announced.

The Friendly Tournament @ Aristea
Sponsored by Harcourts Cape Gate, Real Estates, Kraaifontein

This tournament is for all the chess players who haven't had a lot of experience playing in the leagues or with little tournament experience.

If you would like your learners to get used to the idea of tournaments, this is the perfect opportunity for them. 

It is not about winning - it's about developing chess players to know what to expect when they participate in a tournament.

First, Second and Third prizes per section and each participant will get a certificate of participation.

Payments of R30 per player can be made on the morning of the tournament.

Date: Saturday, 9  September 2017
Time: 08:15 for registrations and payments. Round 1 starts at 9:00.
Rounds: 5.
Time limit: 25/25 (50min per round, 25 min a side) with a 10min break.
Entries close: Friday, 8 September 2017 @ 18:00
The entry fee is payable at the venue.
