Very good news

Good day to everyone.

We are ending our very good term of chess off with some excellent news: ALL our chess teams (under 11, 13 and Girls) have been selected to play in the District North Top Schools Playoffs on Saturday, the 1st of August.

This will imply that we will have to sharpen our games with a few extra practises. For the first two weeks, we are going to have special team practices on a Thursday afternoon as well, (the same time as the other practises).  We are also going to have a tournament on the 25th of July at school.  More info on that early next term.  If your son or daughter played in a league match this term, I really want them to play in this tournament. More information on the tournament will follow shortly.  For the first time, I'm going to do online entries! :-)

Talking about tournaments and sharpening our games - there is a big chess festival taking place in Cape Town in the middle week of the holidays.  There are three different types of tournaments to choose from.  The best for our learners are the Rapid (30 min a side) tournament on Thursday and Friday the 9th and 10th of July.  If you can provide your child with the opportunity to play in this very big tournament, his/her game would sharpen considerably during the holidays.  More information, click here.

I hope you enjoy the holidays.  Those of you driving far this holiday - drive safe and see you next term!

Kind regards.

:-)
