First tournament, 2 new puzzles

Good afternoon everyone.

I know I have been quite lately, but for good reason.  Luckily I haven't forgotten you, though.
Today I have two brand new puzzles for you, and some news regarding our first tournament of the year. (read below the puzzles)

News regarding our first two tournaments for the year:
Date: Friday afternoons, 3 and 17 May 2013
Time: 14:00 till 16:30
Rounds: 4
Time per round:  10/10
Schedule:
Round 1 - 14:15 - 14:35
Round 2 - 14:40 - 15:00
Round 3 - 15:05 - 15:25
Round 4 - 15:30 - 15:50
Prize giving - 16:00
Entry fee: R15
The first placed player will receive a medal and a brand new T-shirt.  Second place only a new T-shirt.

Mr Joubert, who is organising the Klawer Tour each year, is organising if a chess team can perhaps go with! It will take place on the 24th and 25th of May.  As soon as he knows, I will send out another letter and notification via the blog if we can go, and who is going to go.
